All in the family

So there's not much funny about marines dying in Iraq.

That said, I am absolutely shocked that there is a member of the Bell clan NOT in professional baseball. How is this possible?! They're the Kennedy's of MLB, minus the drunken manslaughter!

One day whatifsports.com will have an amazing game on their hands, pitting the Cabreras vs. the Bells vs. the Flying Molinas.

  • Here's what I thought of just now, imagining three Molinas on the same field...

If you were playing a Contra-style baseball game, and your pitcher picked up the Spread weapon, you could simultaneously throw three pitches to the three Molinas, all of whom would have an equally great chance of throwing out basestealers at second. Although the problem becomes how the second baseman fields three throws from the plate. One is hard enough.

  • Sweet Contra reference- it's a double steal, on a dropped third strike. One throws to first to get the batter, one to second, and one to third.
The only problem with this scenario is that no Molina would ever drop a third strike. Couldn't happen.

  • Righto.

In retrospect there actually is a baseball game like that, and I own it. It's for NES and it's called Baseball Simulator 1.000. Your players each have special Ultra Powers, like the ability to hit an exploding ball, or having a line drive so powerful it carries fielders WITH it all the way to the warning track, only to have them drop the ball. Pitchers can throw super-squiggly pitches, etc. The multi-ball pitch that confuses the hitter would fit in perfectly. I'll have to check out the ultra modes again sometime.
